The Winter Solstice, marking the shortest day and the longest night of the year, on Sunday 21st December 2014, brings us to a point of reflection.

In the darkness of our lives, where is the light? The simple answer is within each of us. To see it we need to calm the thought waves of the mind. A beautiful way to achieve that is by observing the stillness of a pool of azure blue water, chanting a simple sound current, listening to the harmony echoed from the water's surface, feeling the connection through the air and the water with others, and tasting the joy of uplifting yourself through a magical experience.

How do we offer gratitude? Heartfelt gratitude is beyond the spoken word. We access it through acknowledging what we have received over and above the material. In expressing our gratitude in the simple act of coming together in harmony for something greater than ourselves, there is a sweetness which cannot be found elsewhere.

Water represents our emotions, while its waves represent all the stress, heaviness and tension of our lives. To sit peacefully observing its stillness brings us to a point of lightness. This reference point will be of great value to you going forward when you find yourself in challenging situations.

We will start with a guide to long deep breathing before chanting Ong So-Hung, sound vibrations which represent "we are each part of the creative consciousness of the Universe", for 31 minutes together, and end with silence for inner reflection. This is suitable for beginners and advanced practitioners.

Yogi Tea and Homemade Biscuits will be served in the Lobby after the Meditation.

The swimming pool will re-open after the meditation for those who then wish to swim and float in the pool. Please arrive by 5.15pm ready to start promptly at 5.30pm. Set-up around the swimming pool will start at 5pm. Latecomers will not be admitted poolside. The pool area closes at 7.45pm and The Circle Spa closes at 8pm.

Please wear light, loose fitting clothing, be barefoot pool side, and come with an open mind. If you intend to dip in the water afterwards you may wish to wear your swimming things under your clothes or towel . Towels are available for hire from reception @£1. Lockers require a refundable £1 coin. If you are unable to sit on the mats provided, you may sit on the poolside benches.

All are welcome, including those who have never meditated before and well-behaved children. The meditation will be lead by Guru Kaur, member of The Circle Spa, and honoured in 2014 by the International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association as anInspirational Teacher.
