It's literally years and years since someone asked me why I wear a turban, it's just part of who I am. Anyway, for those of you who always wanted to know, but never asked, you can see here the full, extended interview Jay did with me for his forthcoming documentary programme called Turbanology. The programme is being broadcast on Digital TV and is also available as a DVD.
I'm really excited about Meditation in the Park when I will be teaching and leading the meditations. It's all held in Russia Dock Woodland, London's best kept secret green space where Millie and I go daily for our walks. There are prizes for the healthiest, most delicous picnic too. On Thursday 20th November my husband Nick (yes the cool photographer with a beard in the Microsoft advert) and I attended the celebrations to mark the 300 years of The Guru Grandth Sahib at the House of Commons. It was a wonderful event with highlights of music, tea and guests, and speeches. In particular, I enjoyed meeting Simon Hughes MP, who, as well as being the local Member of Parliament for the constituency I live in, is also the Vice-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Sikhs. You can read about the event as reported on Sikhnet.

"I've always been put off by self help type things thinking them faddy and aged hippie, but this course makes me smile every time I think of it", that's Nicki, one of our first Be the Woman... Alumnae writing in her monthly column in Knit Today's June 2008 issue.
On 14th November here in London, during Enterprise Week, The Pink Shoe Club, of which I am an ambassador member, organised a summit for 100 phenomenal, enterprising women. During the afternoon I hosted 10 outstanding women in David Cameron's office at the Conservative Central HQ to discuss how our passion has inspired us. I so enjoyed that Theresa May MP, Shadow Leader of the House of Commons joined us. In the evening we adjourned to the Royal Society of Arts where I presented the outcome of all the 3 passion discussions to the All-Party Parliamentary Entrepreneurship Group and Emma Harrison, Chairman of A4E, who gave the keynote speech.
In May 2007 the Nehru Centre, London, hosted the Living Divinely exhibition of photographs by Nick Fleming. It was the culmination of 8 years of his work, during which time he spent many months living with various spiritual communities recording their daily lives. In this opening address I answer the two questions that are most asked about Living Divinely: what started the whole idea, and how did it keep going. The answers may surprise you. At the end I daringly called a fabulous Nihang Singh (Sikh Spiritual Warrior) in full regalia up to lead everyone in a Sikh Battle cry. We nearly brought the roof off. It was probably the first time that something like that's happened in Mayfair. Click here to see it on YouTube. You can skip the introduction of it and go straight to the speech.
On June 25th, 2007, London England, Lord Ahmed and Lord Harries, hosted the All-Party Parliamentary Interfaith Group on behalf of The Global Programme for Introducing the Prophet of Mercy. Representing the Sikh tradition were Guru Kaur, Hari Karam Singh, Parmjit Singh and Harbakhsh Grewal.
