What is a "Guru"?

Sunday, 21 October 2007 19:26

Green Turban Brooch"Gu" means darkness and "Ru" means light. A "Guru" is someone who leads and guides people from the darkness of confusion and frustration into the light of clarity and understanding. "Kaur" is the name given to all Sikh women. It means Princess. It encourages us all to recognise that all women want to be treated with respect and therefore to be respectful.

Prosperity, happiness and fulfilment come from clarity of vision and purpose. What most obscures our clarity is ourselves. And that is all too obvious to all but ourselves. We need to learn to be human, to be our true, authentic selves, whatever the roles we play, be it leader, spouse, CEO or teacher.

Learning takes humility. It takes trust, love, faith and the willingness to address issues within yourself that may be unpleasant. Most importantly it takes someone with the capacity and grace as a person to guide you through the obstacles.

I feel very privileged and blessed to have experienced a diverse set of environments, first in corporate banking, then in running my own business, and in teaching others. Throughout I have maintained and deepened my practice of self-discovery through Kundalini Yoga as taught by my spiritual teacher, Yogi Bhajan, and Sikh Dharma. It was Yogi Bhajan who blessed me with the challenge to live as Guru Kaur.

These insights are offered to serve businesses, organisations and individuals who are seeking to make changes to engage fully in their lives and enjoy the prosperity that then flows.

With love, blessings, gratitude,

gracefully,

Guru Kaur
