Painting in the Park is just one of the events which is happening this summer in Russia Dock Woodland, the green sanctuary which runs along the spine of the Rotherhithe Peninsula, London SE16. It's where we go most days to walk and feel good in the bosom of nature, a small droplet of Kent in zone 2. Docklands News' feature on it says:
The event, designed to encourage community use of the site, is being organised by the Friends of Russia Dock Woodland (FRDW) and is part funded by the UK Lottery Awards for All. Guru Kaur, a Rotherhithe resident and FRDW supporter, said: "Russia Dock Woodland is a jewel in the crown of urban London." I passionately know that we all need access to green spaces whose silence is birdsong. Painting, just like photography and meditation, the other events this summer, is just such a perfect way to appreciate this space. Never take anything for granted.
