It was the music which first carried me back to my year living in Punjab, in the run-up to the Baisakhi Tercentennary Celebrations of 1999 when we spent many evenings dancing to its traditional rhythms with its updated beat. Its contrast with the devotional music heightened the build up of the celebrations creating an exuberance such as I'd never previously witnessed.
